Rawlston Charles is entering his 9th year as Associate Head Coach and 13th year on staff. Since coming to SBVC he has been apart of nine Conference Championships, five Elite Eights and a State Finalist Team. Coach Charles has helped to develop nine Conference Players of the Year and two State Players of the Year.

Here at SBVC, Charles specializes in the academic monitoring of student-athletes, skill development, strength training, recruiting as well as practice and game planning.

Charles arrived at SBVC after a High School and Collegiate playing career which started at Marshall High School, where he was San Gabriel Valley Player of the Year and First Team All-CIF. Following his high school career, Charles went on to play at Wilberforce University, where he was an All-AMC player and conference leading scorer. Charles also had a stint playing professionally overseas in Germany from 2009-10, where he was the league’s leading scorer.

Charles' coaching background started at Wilberforce University, where he spent a year as a Student-Assistant from 2008-09 while completing his B.A. in Social Work. He assisted in player development, strength and conditioning, practice and game preparation. While in Germany, Charles head coached three different club teams: U18 Boys, U12 Boys, and the Women's team. Aside from coaching at SBVC, Coach Ross officiates Collegiate and HS basketball. Charles holds degrees in Social Work from Wilberforce University, and an M.S. in Physical Education from Azusa Pacific University.
