SBVC Closes Regular Season By Sinking Vikings

The San Bernardino Valley College men's basketball team outscored visiting Barstow College 20-4 in the game's opening six-plus minutes, and never looked back, as the Wolverines closed out their regular season with an 111-48 victory in an Inland Empire Athletic Conference game.

The Wolverines finish the regular season with a record of 19-9 overall and 12-4 in the IEAC.

The game was out of reach early, with SBVC outscoring the Vikings 60-16 in the game's opening 20 minutes. The Wolverines finished the first half making 67.6 percent of their shots from the field, including making 50 percent of their shots from beyond the arc.

While the shots were falling, guard Jason Lee was racking up assists. He finished the first half with 12 assists, and played enough in the second half to pick up five more helpers, giving him the school record for most assists in a single game with 17. The freshman finished one rebound short of his second triple-double in three games, scoring 12 points and pulling down nine rebounds.

Sylis Gray led the Wolverines in scoring, dropping in 21 points, while Michael Miller had 17 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists of his own. Kenyani Lee had 11 points, while Benjamin Byrd and Malachi Owens had 10 points apiece.

The Wolverines now await their fate for the CCCAA playoffs, with pairings to be announced within the next week.
