SBVC Sinks Vikings in Rout

For a while Wednesday night, it felt like everything the San Bernardino Valley College men's basketball team threw at the basket was going in.

The Wolverines made 75.6 percent of their shots in the first half and 64.3 percent for the game as they rolled past Barstow College 142-50 victory Wednesday night.

The offensive output from the game entered the SBVC record book. Their 84-point first half was the most points scored in a half ever in school history, with the 92-point margin of victory beating the previous record of 91 points, set in 1950. The 142 points was one-off the school record for most points in a single game, which happened in 1991 against Grossmont.

Dominique Daniels led the way for the Wolverines, scoring 31 points and adding 11 assists in 24 minutes of action. Armon Muldrew returned to the SBVC lineup, scoring 25 points.

Meanwhile, the SBVC defense was shutting down the Vikings, limiting Barstow to only 33.3 percent shooting from the field and forcing 30 Viking turnovers.

Sebastian Mendoza added 20 points and seven rebounds, while Sylis Gray had 18 points and five assists off the bench. Aamari Smith had 13 points, nine rebounds and seven assists, while Chester Makoi had 13 points, seven rebounds and four blocks for SBVC.
