Pair of Doubles Pace SBVC Past Pirates

Dominique Daniels and Sebastian Mendoza each posted double-doubles, as the San Bernardino Valley College men's basketball team clamped down on Palo Verde College in the second half to run away with a 98-68 victory Saturday afternoon.

The Wolverines led by 10 at the half, but the Wolverines went on a 13-2 run early in the second half to pull away from the Pirates. The Wolverines made 50 percent of their shots in the second half, while limiting Palo Verde to only 32.4 percent shooting in the second 20 minutes. 

Daniels led the way for SBVC, scoring 33 points and adding 11 assists. He was 5-for-10 from three-point range in the game. Meanwhile, Mendoza finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds - all on the defensive end - in 31 minutes of action. The Wolverines also got 22 points from Aamari Smith and 11 from Derrick Nettles off the bench.

Teren Smith led the Pirates with 19 points, while Arthur Edwards also posted a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
