SBVC Pulls Away to Cruise to Conference Opening Victory

The San Bernardino Valley College men's basketball team led from start to finish as the Wolverines opened Inland Empire Athletic Conference play with a dominant 91-43 victory over Copper Mountain College on Wednesday.

After going to the locker room up by 14, the Wolverines clamped down on the Fighting Cacti in the second half. Copper Mountain committed 17 turnovers in the secondd half, while only making 33.3 percent of its shots from the field. 

Meanwhile, the Wolverines were taking advantage of the extra chances, making 57.1 percent of their shots in the second half, while outscoring Copper Mountain 52-18. For the game, SBVC scored 47 points off of Copper Mountain's 33 turnovers. And the Wolverines did damage from distance as well, making 50 percent of its shots from beyond the arc in the game.

Dominique Daniels once again led the way for SBVC, scoring 29 points on 11-for-19 shooting - including 3-of-6 from three-point range, along with six assists. Armon Muldrew added 18 points, while Sebastian Mendoza and Aamari Smith each added 17 points. Mendoza led the team with nine rebounds. 

Larry Holmes and Jack Garrison led Copper Mountain with 10 points apiece.
