Wolverines Sink Pirates in First Meeting

The San Bernardino Valley College men's basketball scored on the game's opening possession and never looked back as the Wolverines beat Palo Verde College 104-59 in the first-ever meeting of the two teams in the Inland Empire Athletic Conference.

Cameron Butler and Brandon Betson each finished the game with a double-double. Betson, who played all 40 minutes, led the Wolverines with 22 points while handing out 13 assists. Butler had his double-double secured off the bench in the first half, scoring 10 points and pulling down 10 rebounds in the opening 20 minutes. He finished the game with 16 points and 21 rebounds, controlling the middle for the Wolverines.

The Wolverines shot 54.9 percent for the game, with Cartrell Thompson scoring 20 points (along with six rebounds) and Jaren Williams adding 15 off the bench. Jordan Jones had 11 rebounds (to go with eight points), as SBVC outrebounded the Pirates 56-30 in the game.

Palo Verde's Waylon Anderson led all scorers with 24 points.
