Facing a limited field with only two teams fielding enough runners to be awarded points, it was important for the San Bernardino Valley College women's cross country team to stay close to defend its Inland Empire Athletic Conference championship.
And the team delivered.
Sara Jaquez continued her strong 2024 season taking the top spot in the IEAC field with a time of 19 minutes, 30.9 seconds over the 5-kilometer course to lead the Wolverines to another team championship. Liliana Wilson finished fourth in the field, crossing the line at 21:16.7, grabbing the third-place point spot. Hazel Torres finished fifth, stopping the clock at 22:28.5.
The Wolverines have two weeks to prepare for a return trip to Chaffey College for the Southern California Championships on Nov. 8.
