Sara Jaquez finished eighth overall, but the San Bernardino Valley College women's cross country team finished 14th as a team at the Southern California Preview meet at Chaffey College on Oct. 4

Jaquez, coming off a strong finish at the Cal State San Marcos 6K race less than a week before, finished the 5K course at Chaffey in a time of 20 minutes, 14.2 seconds. She started the race fast, running nearly side-by-side with eventual winner Danna Ibarra Canales at the first mile split, before dropping back on the tough course. 

After Jaquez, the Wolverines dropped off in the field. Liliana Wilson made a late push, moving up seven places over the last mile-plus to finish 54th at 23:03.4. Hazel Torres was the next to cross the line, stopping the clock at 24:15.7, with Emma Fierro finished at 25:57.9.

The Wolverines will get another test this weekend as they are scheduled to race at the San Diego Mesa Invitational.
