After making its first trip to the postseason since 2006 - and its first winning season since 2005 - the San Bernardino Valley College women's volleyball team is hoping to build upon that success in 2024.
And it seems the rest of the state is starting to notice.
The Wolverines were ranked No. 23 in California in the opening poll of the California Community College Women's Volleyball Coaches Association, which was released Monday.
SBVC, which lost to Pasadena City in the first round last year, opened the season last weekend, taking the fifth-place game in the Los Angeles Mission Tournament. The Wolverines lost their opening two games Friday - both in four sets - before sweeping Rio Hondo and Southwestern on Saturday.
Action for the team continues this week, with a trip to take on Southwestern on Wednesday, before having its home opener at 5 p.m. Friday against Saddleback.
