Three-Goal First Half Leads SBVC to Win

The San Bernardino Valley College women's soccer team scored three times in less than 10 minutes and then clamped down on Mt. San Jacinto's offense for a 3-0 Inland Empire Athletic Conference victory Friday in SBVC Stadium.

SBVC spent the first 30 minutes feeling out the Eagles, trying to find openings in the MSJC defense before finding the breakthrough.

The Wolverines were pushing the ball into the MSJC penalty area, and it was bouncing around before Jovana Soto-Torres corralled the ball, pushed it to Angelina Diaz, who shot the ball into the back of the net in the 32nd minute.

In the 38th minute, the ball made it way onto the left wing, where attacking defender Ferryn Koss took the ball near the sideline. She put her left foot into the ball in what looked like a crossing pass, but sailed past goalkeeper Corayma Garcia and inside the right post for a 2-0 lead.

Just over three minutes later, Yesika Gonzalez sent a crossing pass from the right side into the area, where Allyson Awunganyi headed the ball home for the 3-0 lead.

After MSJC was hed without a shot in the first half, the Eagles tried to push forward in the last 45 minutes. The ended up firing six shots at the SBVC goal, with two glancing off the outside of the right post, while Ana Barajas was forced to stop two chances.
