SBVC Women’s Soccer takes Conference lead beating Victor Valley, 5-3

SBVC Women's Soccer (10-1-2; 1-0) attacked fast against the Victor Valley Rams (8-4; 0-1) getting four out of their five goals in the first half of the game and securing their first Foothill Conference win of the season and tenth win overall, beating the Rams, 5-3.

The Wolverines defense started off spectacular holding the Rams to a scoreless first half and freshman goalkeeper Arianna Rodriquez (La Quinta H.S.) played the first 54 minutes of the match and allowed zero goals with three incredible saves.   Rodriquez was relieved by freshman goalkeeper Dacia Melendez (Phelan Serrano) who played until re-aggravating a previous leg injury and was than replaced by sophomore goalkeeper Savannah Chadd (Murrieta Mesa) who finished the remainder of the game.

SBVC wasted little time on offense scoring the first goal of the game in the 6th minute of play by freshman midfielder Calvonis Prentice (Hemet Tahquitz) and providing the assist was sophomore midfielder Amairany Rosales (Rialto H.S.). After several more shot attempts from SBVC, the Wolverines were able to grab another goal in the 25th minute from sophomore forward Aleyah Coleman (Palm Springs H.S.) who drove a shot in between Victor Valley's keeper after receiving the assist from sophomore forward Leandra Garlinger (Riverside John Wesley North).

SBVC continued their offensive attack on the Rams with another goal in the 33rd minute of play coming from Coleman, her second of the day, and providing the amazing assist was sophomore midfielder Julissa Magana (Bloomington H.S.).  With only minutes left remaining in the first half, the Wolverines struck again getting their fourth goal from sophomore forward Mariana Valenciana-Madrigal (Jurupa Valley H.S.) and with the assist was freshman midfielder Alondra Gildo-Ceballos, expanding SBVC's lead to 4-0 at halftime

The Wolverines showed no signs of slowing down entering the second half, but it wasn't until the 60th minute when SBVC got their fifth and final score of the game from Garlinger and providing another great assist was Gildo-Ceballos. About half way through the second half and SBVC leading 5-0, the Wolverines made multiple substitutions and Victor Valley took full advantage of the opportunity by getting three unanswered scores late in the game, but SBVC fought hard long enough to finish the game 5-3, and handing Victor Valley their first conference loss of the season.

SBVC's next game will be October 13th at Desert and their next home game will be against Rio Hondo on October 16th with kickoff slated for 2 p.m.
