Bruising Defense Leads Wolverines to Victory

The San Bernardino Valley College women's basketball team used a bruising defense, and got timely shooting to knock off MiraCosta College 54-46 Wednesday night at SBVC.

The Wolverines held the Spartans to only 29.6 percent shooting from the floor in the game, as the Spartans led by as much as seven points in the first half.

But San Bernardino Valley heated up in the second half. Leading by one at half, the Wolverines outscored the Spartans 16-9 in the third quarter and held on in the fourth for the win.

Brianne Cheatum led all scorers in the game with 19 points for the Wolverines, while Aoloni Robinson added 13 points, eight rebounds and six assists. Brittan Cheatum added 10 more for San Bernardino Valley.

The Spartans only had four players score in the game, with Breanna Morales leading the way with 13.
