Cross Country Champ Heredia Races to NAIA School

Alvaro Heredia, who last fall became the first men's individual cross country champion in the Inland Empire Athletic Conference, will continue his collegiate career at the University of Antelope Valley.

A Rialto High School graduate, Heredia led a pack of seven San Bernardino Valley College runners who crossed the finish line before any other competitors last fall at the first IEAC Championships at Chaffey College. He clocked in at 21 minutes, 21.9 seconds to win the title. He and his teammates moved on to advance to the state championships last fall.

Heredia will be headed to the NAIA school. The Pioneers finished 11th as a team at the NAIA National Championships last year, the team's first trip to the nationals.
