With the end of the season fast approaching, the San Bernardino Valley College track teams headed to Moorpark College to participate in the Moorpark Invitational.
Competing against teams from across California, the SBVC men continued building on their personal and season bests.
The men's relay team – consisting of Solomon German, Semaj Johnson, Keshion Mackey, and Elijah Koskey - continued its strong spring with a pair of finishes in the top four. In the 4x100, the team posted a season best time of 42.78 seconds, good for fourth. In the 4x400, the team finished atop the podium with a time of 3:19.41.
That group also improved on their times in their individual events, as well.
German finished second in the 100 meters, posting the fifth-fastest time in Southern California this season at 10.69 seconds. Koskey and Johnson each posted personal bests in the 400 meters, with Koskey finishing second with a time of 48.9 seconds, and Johnson fourth at 49.49 seconds.
SBVC athletes also found success in the longer distances. Kwinten Crenshaw, in his first race since joining the squad after completing basketball season, finished second in his heat of the 800 meters, posting a time of 2:07.57.
Jacob Mendiola posted a pair of season bests, finishing seventh in the 800 meters with a time of 1:58.42, then winning the 1500 meters with a time of 4:01.72. Kevin Nava wasn't far behind Mendiola, posting a personal best of 4:04.36 in the 1500 meters, good for third place.
The team will have its last test before the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference championships this weekend at the Cerritos Invitational.
