
After two weeks away from competition, the San Bernardino Valley College track and field team returned to action at the Pasadena City College Invitational, competing against other schools from the region.
The beautiful spring day turned out to be a strong day for the Wolverines' runners in the 400 meters. Elijah Koskey ran his first 400-meter race of the season, and posted the eighth-fastest time in the state this season, finishing in 48.91 seconds to win the race. Semaj Johnson wasn't far behind, posting a personal best 49.95 seconds for a third-place finish. Keshion Mackel finished fifth at 50.75 seconds.
The three runners than joined Solomon German to win the 4x400 meter relay in a state "A" Standard time of 3:19.67. The team is now sixth in the state rankings this season. The same foursome finished second in the 4x100 relay with a season-best time of 42.65 seconds.
SBVC's runners will split up next weekend, as they work their way to championship season. The distance runners will head to Cal State San Marcos on Friday to participate in the Mangrum Invitational. The sprinters will head Saturday to El Camino College for the Dave Shannon Invitational.
