Goals Continue to Evade Wolverines in First Home Loss

For the third consecutive home game, the San Bernardino Valley College men's soccer team limited the amount of shots their opponents fired at their net.

But, for the third straight game, the Wolverines couldn't find the back of the net.

Rio Hondo College got a goal off a free kick from Andrew Cruz Diaz in the 42nd minute, as the Roadrunners knocked off the Wolverines 1-0 Tuesday afternoon.

Diaz lined up the shot from about 30 yards out, and curled the ball up and over the SBVC wall. The ball hit the bottom of the left post and caromed across the goal line and into the back of the net, on what was the Roadrunners' fisrt shot of the game.

SBVC came out strong, firing three early shots at the Rio Hondo goal. But goalkeeper Arturo Bustamante was up to the challenge. Bustamante had four saves, as the Wolverines missed the net on nine other shots.

Goalkeeper Arturo Magana had the only save for the Wolverines, as he made the stop in the second half. Rio Hondo only put three shots toward the SBVC net.
