SBVC Men’s Soccer pulls off a late comeback to tie Cuyamca, 2-2

SBVC Men's Soccer (3-3-6) was able to comeback late in the match against the Cuyamca Coyotes (7-1-3), scoring two goals in the second half by the same player and handing the Coyotes their third draw of the season.

SBVC came out firing the first half with several shots targeting the Coyotes keeper, but it was Cuyamca who was awarded the first score of the game from a misdirected block delivered by an SBVC defender that slipped by the Wolverines keeper. SBVC's defense quickly regained focus and ceased the Coyotes offense from making another score in the first half, keeping the score 1-0 at halftime.

Both teams struggled in the beginning of the second half to get anything going until Cuyamca scored in the 52nd minute of play, increasing their lead, 2-0. The Wolverines continued their battle on offense and were able to have their efforts payoff in the 71st minute with a tremendous goal from freshman midfielder Aldahir Madrid (Fontana H.S.) and providing the assist was freshman midfielder Aldo Iniguez (San Bernardino San Gorgonio), making the score 2-1.

With only a few minutes left in the match, SBVC was able to answer again with an incredible corner kick delivered by freshman midfielder Danny Meza (Fontana Jurupa Hills) which found the head of Madrid, knocking in his second goal of the game, equalizing Cuyamca in the 87th minute of play. The Wolverines were able to hold Cuyamca long enough to end the game with a draw of 2-2, making this SBVC's sixth tie of the season.

SBVC's next game will be at home against Victor Valley on October 9th at 4 p.m.
