Jason Kounas
Head Coach
30th Season, 4th as Head Coach (2025)

Jason Kounas enters his fourth year as the head coach and 30th as a member of the coaching staff at San Bernardino Valley College. Kounas' duties as an assistant included working with the pitching staff, catchers, recruiting, and sophomore placement to the four-year schools. 

A graduate of San Gorgonio High School, Kounas began his collegiate career at SBVC, where he was a member of two playoff teams, In his sophomore year, he played a key role in helping the 1993 team win a Foothill Conference Championship.

From SBVC he went on to the University of California, Riverside to finish out his eligibility. While at UC Riverside, he played another key role on the pitching staff in helping them to two playoff appearances, the 1995 Conference Championship and 1994 College World Series.  The 1995 pitching staff Kounas was a part of holds the second best team ERA in UC Riverside history.  After the 1995 season Kounas went on to play Independent professional baseball with the Yuma Desert Dawgs of the former Golden State League.

Kounas received his Associate of Arts degree from SBVC and later, earned his BA in history from UC Riverside in 1996 and his Masters in Physical Education from Azusa Pacific University in 2001. Kounas is currently a physical education teacher in San Bernardino City Unified and resides in the Inland Empire with his wife Christina and his three children: Lia, Michael, and Nicholas.
