SBVC Baseball pummels the Rams, 11-2

SBVC (15-11; 11-3) continues to roll through the Foothill Conference as they collected their eighth straight victory and are only gaining momentum as they crushed the Victorville Victor Valley Rams (7-16; 5-9), 11-2.

Sophomore right handed starting pitcher Brandon Conlon (2-4) (Norco H.S.) tossed an impressive seven and a third innings of work, giving up a run, unearned, on four hits and striking out seven. Sophomore right handed pitcher Jeremy Moreno (Riverside Poly) wrapped up the final two outs of the eighth inning, surrendering a hit and striking out one. Sophomore right handed pitcher Luis Villarreal (Colton H.S.) closed out the ninth giving up a run, which was earned, on two hits.

Victor Valley opened up the scoring in the top of the first with a run, but SBVC answered back in the second with a triple by sophomore left fielder Christian Hendrix (Fontana Henry J. Kaiser), who scored on a balk by the Rams pitcher, tying the game at 1-1. Hendrix went 2 for 4 on the afternoon.

SBVC tacked on three more runs in the bottom of the fourth, freshman second baseman Jonathan McCray (Riverside Martin Luther King, Jr.) took a one out walk, stealing second and coming home on a double by sophomore catcher Christian Fillingame (Oak Hills H.S.). Then Fillingame scored on a single by sophomore third baseman Andrew Ramones (Redlands Citrus Valley) and came around on a fielding error by the Rams second baseman to give SBVC a 4-1 lead.

SBVC added four more runs in the sixth as Fillingame and Hendrix reached on back-to-back singles and after Ramones reached on a fielder's choice, sophomore designated hitter Kurtis Kloke (San Bernardino Cajon) singled to score Fillingame. Sophomore center fielder Titus Carlson (Moreno Valley Valley View) followed that up with a single to score Ramones and later in the inning sophomore first baseman Aaron Cisneros (San Bernardino H.S.) singled to score Kloke and Carlson.

In the bottom of the eighth, SBVC added three more runs as Ramones led off the inning with a single, then freshman designated hitter Gerardo Torreblanca (Fontana H.S.) doubled and Carlson followed that up with a double, scoring both Ramones and Torreblanca. Freshman pinch hitter Jordon Babbitt (Redlands Citrus Valley) singled to score Carlson, giving SBVC an 11-1 lead.

Victor Valley would add a run in the top of the ninth.
