SBVC Baseball rolls to third straight win over the Vikings, 8-2

SBVC (10-11; 6-3) looks to get back to .500 next week thanks to the hard work and effort this week, wrapping up with a home victory over the Barstow Vikings (9-12; 5-4), 8-2.

SBVC opened up the scoring in the bottom of the first, putting up a run after an RBI single to right by freshman second baseman Jonathan McCray (Riverside Martin Luther King, Jr.), but in the top half of the third, Barstow tied the game at 1-1.

In the bottom of the third SBVC added two more runs to the board when freshman right fielder Austin Berglund (Etiwanda H.S.) and McCray crossed home plate in the frame. Barstow would add one more in the top of the fourth, making the score 3-2 and then SBVC would start to bust the game open.

SBVC added two more runs in the bottom of the fifth on a two RBI double to center by sophomore catcher Christian Fillingame (Oak Hills H.S.) scoring McCray and sophomore short stop Tyler Robles (Etiwanda H.S.).

Another run would come in in the seventh on an RBI single to center by sophomore designated hitter Kurtis Kloke (San Bernardino Cajon) scoring sophomore third baseman Andrew Ramones (Redlands Citrus Valley). And SBVC would add two more in the bottom of the eighth on a bases loaded error by the Barstow third baseman attempting a double play.

Sophomore right handed starting pitcher Brandon Conlon (1-4) (Norco H.S.) tossed an impressive seven innings of work, giving up two runs, one earned, on seven hits, walking two and striking out four, to grab his first win of the season.

Fillingame went 2 for 4, scoring a run, with three runs batted in and Kloke went 3 for 4 with two RBI's on the hot afternoon. Sophomore left fielder Christian Hendrix (Fontana Henry J. Kaiser) went 2 for 4 and Berglund went 2 for 4 with two runs scored. McCray went 2 for 2, collecting three walks and scoring three runs and knocking for an RBI.
