San Bernardino Valley College Athletics

Edgar Ortiz started as an Athletic Trainer at San Bernardino Valley College in 2025. Prior to SBVC, Edgar served as an athletic trainer at El Camino College. During his time at El Camino, Edgar oversaw and managed the prevention, care and treatment for over 120 student athletes on the football and softball teams. Edgar also assisted with the medical healthcare coverage of El Camino's 22 intercollegiate sports. 

Prior to El Camino College, Edgar worked as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at the University of California, Los Angeles, Seasonal Athletic Trainer with the Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders, Assistant Athletic Trainer at Whittier College, Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer at California State University, Northridge and as a Certified Intern Athletic Trainer at Villanova University. Edgar began as a student intern athletic trainer at his alma mater, St. John Bosco High School, while attending school at California State University, Fullerton. 

Edgar holds a Master's Degree in Rehabilitation Science from PennWest California (formerly California University of Pennsylvania) and a Bachelor's in Athletic Training from California State University, Fullerton. Edgar is a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA), Far West Athletic Trainers' Association (FWATA) and California Community College Athletic Trainers' Association (CCCATA). Edgar has served as a preceptor for students in athletic training education programs hailing from Long Beach State, La Verne, and Azusa Pacific University.

Edgar loves spending time with family and friends and currently resides in Los Angeles with his wife Alexandra and their dog Odesza (aka Odie).
