SBVC Women’s Volleyball has a hard time with the Owls, 3-2

SBVC (5-9) wrapped up non-Conference play with a hard fought 5 set match versus the Glendora Citrus Fighting Owls (1-12), falling in the final set, 25-19, 25-21, 20-25, 14-25 & 15-9.

SBVC would fall down 0-2 in the first two sets, but stormed back in a big way, turning things around in the third set, then absolutely demolishing the Owls in the fourth set, taking a 7-0 lead to start the set. SBVC would open the fifth and final set, with a great effort as they battled the Owls for the win, but unfortunately, the home side would fall late in the final set.

Sophomore setter Nayeli Hernandez (San Bernardino Aquinas) led the team with 27 assists and also led the team with 21 digs and sophomore outside hitter Roslynn Hamilton (Moreno Valley Vista del Lago) led the team with 14 kills and had 19 digs.

Sophomore outside hitter Stephanie Gilbert (Moreno Valley Vista Del Lago) had 12 kills and had 15 digs and sophomore middle blocker Ariana Cole (Fontana Azariel Blanchard Miller) led the team with 3 service aces, leading the team with 3 block assists and had 7 kills.

Freshman libero Angel Rodriguez (Fontana Azariel Blanchard Miller) had 13 digs and had a service ace on the evening.

The next home game for SBVC is when they open up Pacific Coast Athletic Conference play hosting Palomar, on Friday, October 7, game starts at 5 p.m.
