SBVC Women’s Soccer rolls over the Roadrunners, 6-0

SBVC (5-1; 1-0) opened up PCAC play the same way they concluded Foothill Conference play, by steamrolling teams and keeping their pristine home record intact, today's victim was none other than former rival the Palm Desert College of the Desert Roadrunners (1-4-1; 0-1), 6-0.

SBVC received a shared "clean sheet" from sophomore starting goal keeper Arianna Rodriguez (La Quinta H.S.) and freshman goal keeper Vanessa Casillas (Bloomington H.S.), both of which combined to make just three saves only facing five shots, as the SBVC defense dominated the Roadrunners attack.

The Desert keeper was no slouch, she faced an onslaught unseen in recent games, where SBVC unleashed 43 shots, 24 of which were on goal and all while making 18 huge saves, nine in each half.

SBVC would get on the board right at the 17 minute mark when sophomore midfielder Baylee Williams (Beaumont H.S.) connected with sophomore midfielder Calvonis Prentice (Hemet Tahquitz) for her second goal of the year, the cross in front of the net proved to be deadly, giving SBVC the early 1-0 advantage.

Right before half time, at exactly 40 minutes, freshman midfielder Natalie Davis (Yucaipa H.S.) found sophomore midfielder Jazlynn Martinez (Rialto W.A. Carter) in front of the net for her first goal of the year, pounding the shot past the Roadrunners keeper to give SBVC a 2-0 lead going into the break.

Confidence was high as SBVC took the field for the second half and "Money" Williams cashed in again, as she assisted on sophomore midfielder Alondra Gildo-Ceballos' (Fontana H.S.) first goal of the year, 34 seconds into the second half, giving SBVC, a seemingly insurmountable, 3-0 lead.

In the 63rd minute, Gildo-Ceballos would strike again, as Prentice lobbed a shot into the goal mouth and "Crio" made some magic, rifling the shot home, to give SBVC a 4-0 lead and the rout was on.

Freshman midfielder Samantha Cordova (Rancho Cucamonga H.S.) was the next benefactor of great play in the middle of the field as freshman forward Lexis Cortez (Riverside Arlington) headed a shot towards the net and Cordova did the rest, punishing the pelota past the keeper, taking a 5-0 advantage.

Just before full time, the SBVC keeper, Casillas, launched a goal kick towards sophomore forward Meagan Dihom (Rancho Cucamonga Los Osos) who promptly ran through the midfield, then towards the goalie box, leaving Roadrunners in the dust all over the place and cleared a shot into the upper right corner in the 88th minute to give SBVC a 6-0 lead.
