The San Bernardino Valley College women's basketball team paid tribute to its sophomores with a 79-35 victory over College of the Desert on Friday night at SBVC.
The Wolverines controlled the game from the outset, taking a 9-2 lead midway through the first half, but only led by six at the end of the first quarter.
But the defense shut down the Roadrunners in the second quarter, turning a 13-7 lead after one into a 35-12 lead at the half. For the game, the Wolverines held Desert to only 26.7 percent shooting from the field.
Brianne Cheatum led the way for the Wolverines with 34 points – including four 3-pointers – and eight assists. Sister Brittan Cheatum added 24 points and 11 rebounds. Adrianna Brackens contributed underneath, pulling down 17 rebounds.
Jada Toland led the Roadrunners with 10 points.
