Wolverine Runners Get Early Test in Redlands

Sophomore Kevin Quinteros finished fifth and Juan Hernandez finished ninth, as the San Bernardino Valley College men's cross country team saw its first competitive action in more than a year Sept. 4 at the University of Redlands Invitational.

"Kevin and Juan both ran very smart races," said SBVC coach Jim Ratigan. "The both started out conservatively and moved up as the race progressed."

Quinteros finished the 6 kilometer course in 19 minutes, 53.4 seconds. Hernandez clocked in at 20:12.4.

Only four members of the squad ran in the race, as athletes get back into competition form after losing an entire year to COVID-19.

Logan Hernandez crossed the line at 21:46.7 for 36th, and Aaron Esparza was 47th and 22:39.8.
