SBVC Men's Cross Country sophomore Derek Barnett (Redlands East Valley) and freshman Nicholas Cohenour (Moreno Valley Canyon Springs) were named to the 2014 All-State Academic Award list for Cross Country over the weekend.

Cohenour competed with the team last season, but Barnett has been a key to the success of this season.

Barnett helped the team take 4th place at the SoCal Preview and was instrumental in grabbing a 16th place finish at the Stanford Invitational, individually placing 117th with a time of 26:05.4. He also individually placed 4th with a time of 21:27.31 at the Howard Brubaker Invitational, giving SBVC the team win at that event.

The most recent event that Cohenour completed in was the Foothill Conference Preview Meet on October 3, 2014 where he finished in 20th place.

SBVC Men's Cross Country team will be going into this Friday's Foothill Conference Final in search of their 20th straight championship at the San Bernardino Soccer Complex. This will be the last Foothill Conference final for all participants as the Conference will cease operation as of July 1, 2016.
