SBVC, Norco Battle to Scoreless Draw

SBVC, Norco Battle to Scoreless Draw

Two of the top 10 teams in the state - and the top two teams in the Inland Empire Athletic Conference - met Friday afternoon hoping that one of them could grab an advantage in the race for the conference championship.

But after 90 minutes - and a lot of stoppage time - neither Norco or San Bernardino Valley College's men's soccer teams could find a goal, as they played to a scoreless draw.

Each team had chance. The Wolverines hit posts, and Norco had two shots cleared off the line by SBVC defenders. But the two teams played a physical match from start to finish, with seven players receiving yellow cards in the game.

The tie leaves SBVC (ranked No. 7 in the latest state poll) in first place in conference at 3-0-1, while Norco (No. 4) sits two points behind at 2-0-2 as the teams ended the first half of the conference schedule.

Both teams will meet again in the final game of the regular season Nov. 7.
