SBVC Runners Earn Top 10 Finish at Regional Preview

With three members of their squad unable to run due to outside commitments, the San Bernardino Valley College women's cross country team had tempered goals set for Friday's Southern California Regional Preview meet at El Dorado East Regional Park in Long Beach.

But the Wolverines that were at the meet showed up, and helped the team post a tenth place finish in the first big test of the season.

Sara Jaquez continued her strong start to the season, leading the Wolverines on the five-kilometer course. She finished 26th overall in the field, crossing the line at 19 minutes, 57.8 seconds.

The next two SBVC runners crossed the line close to each other. Ximena Martinez finished 34th at 20:41.6, while Britney Solis stopped the clock at 20:50.1 for 36th place. Alondra Mayorga finished 49th at 21:37.9.

The team will now train for their next meet, the Chaffey Invitational, which is set for Oct. 7, before the Inland Empire Athletic Conference Championships on Oct. 20.
