SBVC Women Pass First Challenge of Season

The San Bernardino Valley College women's cross country team got its first race action of the season last Saturday, as it took part in the Cal State San Bernardino Challenge.

Under new coach Jenny Sandoval, the Wolverines finished fourth in the five-team field, which included a Concordia University team that finished in eight of the top nine spots in the field. 

SBVC was paced by Sara Jaquez, who finished the five kilometer course in 20 minutes, 48.1 seconds, good for 21st in the field. Audrey Garcia was the next Wolverine to stop the clock, crossing the line in 30th position at 21:34.6. Two spots behind her was Ximena Martinez, who finished at 21:47.2. Britney Solis and Alondra Mayorga finished back-to-back, with Solis finishing at 23:52.2 and Mayorga at 23:56.6.

The Wolverines will get their next big test this Friday, as they head to Long Beach for the Southern California Preview race.
