Manaia Mamea Leads SBVC All-Conference Honorees

Members of the San Bernardino Valley College women’s volleyball team were rewarded for bringing home a piece of its first conference championship since 2006 with All-Inland Empire Athletic Conference selections, voted on my conference coaches.

Manaia Mamea was named the conference co-Most Valuable Player. Manaia, a Fontana Summit High graduate, led the Wolverines with 337 kills on the season, good for 10th in the state. Her season total puts her third all-time in school history for kills in a single season. She was second on the team in service aces with 42 and in digs, with 229. She is the first SBVC volleyball player to earn a conference player of the year award since 2007.

Two fellow Summit High grads were named to the first team.

Loleaulelei Mamea joined her sister in the All-IEAC honors. Lole was second on the team in kills with 312 (15th in the state), which is fourth all-time in a single season. She led the team in service aces with 49 and was third in digs with 221.

Setter Itzana Rojas was the other first-team selection. She finished the season with 507 assists, while finishing fifth on the team in digs with 125.

Two players were selected for second team honors.

Libero Destiney Parker, a graduate of Riverside’s Martin Luther King High, led the team in digs on the season, getting credit for 231, while adding 40 assists and 30 service aces. Middle blocker Ariana Romero was the other selection, finishing the season third on the team with 26 blocks and adding 73 kills.

Emily Valencia (Rialto Eisenhower) earned honorable mention status.

The Wolverines are awaiting word on any postseason action. The CCCAA volleyball playoff pairings are set to be announced Thursday.
