SBVC Sends Off Sophomores with Solid Outing

You have to go back 10 years to find the last time the San Bernardino Valley College women's basketball team beat Mt. San Jacinto. In fact, only once since December of 2014 has their been a competitive game between the two schools.

For a good portion of Saturday's season finale, the Wolverines gave the Eagles a challenge.

But a third quarter that saw the Wolverines only make three of their 19 shots from the field turned out to be the opening the Eagles needed to pull away to beat SBVC 89-62.

SBVC scored the game's first four points, then battled back and forth in the opening 10 minutes, trailing by six after one, and found itself down eight at the half.

But it was the third quarter that was the Wolverine's undoing, as the Eagles forced SBVC into taking poor shooting positions, while making 45 percent of their shots on the other end, opening a 22-point lead after 30 minutes.

Ajayah Lively led the Wolverines in scoring, dropping in 17 points, while Anaya Singer posted a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Marilynn Jacques added 11 points and five assists, as she finished the season with 139 assists, putting her in the top five in school history for assists in a single season.

Breyonna Bell led the Eagles with a game-high 25 points.
