SBVC Men Sweep Field for IEAC Title

The San Bernardino Valley College men's cross country team continued its dominance of the Inland Empire Athletic Conference, winning the 2023 IEAC Championship on Friday at Morley Field in San Diego.

SBVC has won the IEAC title all four seasons it has been contested.

Vicente Quiroz was the first to stop the clock for the Wolverines, finishing the 4-mile course in 21 minutes, 6.4 seconds. But he wasn't alone at the top of the IEAC field, as the next four runners were members of the SBVC squad, giving the Wolverines a perfect score. Jacob Mendiola finished second, crossing the line at 21:28.7, with Christopher Valderrama not far behind at 21:47.3. Crossing fourth was Elijah McBroom, clocking in at 22:07.8, with Fercis Torres finishing fifth at 22:11.9.

The Wolverines then had six more runners finish in the top 15 in the 36-runner field. Kevin Nava was seventh with a time of 22:44.7, with Alan Nava finishing tenth at 23:08.3.

SBVC will now prepare to return to El Dorado Regional Park - East in Long Beach for the Southern California Championships on Nov. 3.
