SBVC Shows Strong at Fresno Opener

If the results of a first race of the season can serve as a predictor of future results, then the San Bernardino Valley College men's cross country team is in for a strong 2023 season.

The Wolverines finished in second place at the Fresno Invitational on Friday at Woodward Park. San Diego Mesa College was the only team in front of SBVC in the 16-team field.

Jacob Mendiola was the first across the line for the Wolverines, finishing at 21 minutes, 27 seconds, for 13th place overall. Elijah McBroom wasn't too far behind, finishing in 17th at 21:33.84.

The next three Wolverines finished within seven seconds of each other: Vicente Quiroz (24th, 21:47.52), Fercis Torres (25th, 21:51.81), and Christian Valderrama (27th, 21:54.43).

SBVC will race close to home next, participating in the Cal State San Bernardino Challenge next Saturday.
