PR's Fall as SBVC Runners Race Toward State

The San Bernardino Valley College track and field teams made their way to Glendale College on Saturday and posted strong results as they prepare for the end-of-season meets that lead to the State Championships.

Several runners improved on their times, posting personal bests at the meet. 

On the men's side, Daquarn Davis continued shaving time in the 100 meters, crossing the line at a personal best of 11.28 seconds. Chompal Kanyamasa set his personal best in the 110 meter high hurdles, stopping the clock at 17.66 seconds. In the 400 meters, Jahzeri Gill set a new personal mark of 52.23 seconds. And John Mireles took second in his 800 meter heat, posting a time of 1:59.79.

The women's team also posted strong results. Ayla Lynette Smallwood posted personal bests in both the 100 meters (13.84) and 200 meters (28.70). Kaitlyn Hornbach set a new PR in the 100 meter low hurdles, posting a time of 15.99 seconds. And Yoselin Canseco finished third in the 3000 meter steeplechase, moving her into the top 10 in the state rankings in the event.
