Cloar's Versatility Helps Land Him Four-Year Spot

For a soccer team to be successful, it takes players who are willing to put in the work on both ends of the field for the betterment of their team.

Part of that involves taking charge of the midfield, by helping shut down attacks, moving the ball around the field and making sure the offense is able to attack when the time is right.

Last season, the player the San Bernardino Valley College men’s soccer team looked to in that role was sophomore Dawit “David” Cloar.

The hard-working midfielder is adept on both sides of the ball. He is a strong ball-handler, able to move the ball around in tight spaces. And he is able to find teammates with solid, accurate passes. All skills that will translate to playing at any level.

And now, he will have the chance to prove it, as he will be taking those skills to The Master’s University this fall.

Cloar becomes the first player from the 2021 men’s soccer team to announce his future plans.

He spent two seasons at SBVC, playing as a freshman in 2019, then sticking around through the Covid-19 pandemic for his sophomore season. In 2021, he started in 16 of the 18 games he played, registering a single assist. As a freshman, he had four shots – all of them on goal.

The Master’s University is an NAIA school in Santa Clarita that plays in the Golden State Athletic Conference.
