San Bernardino Valley College's Kaleb Castro came to the plate with runners on first and second with two outs in a tie game with a simple mindset.

"I'm just trying to get something over the plate and drive it in the gap and try to score Zach from second," he said after the game.

The gap he found was over centerfielder Johnny Lloyd's head in the deepest part of the ballpark, and Zachary Marquez easily rounded third and scored, as SBVC knocked off Victor Valley College 10-9.

As Castro rounded second with the game won, he was mobbed by his teammates to celebrate the walk-off win - Castro's first-ever walk-off hit.

"I've never had one before," he said of the walk-off. "It felt great. It was cool to celebrate with all the guys and get this dub today."

It was a hard-fought win for the Wolverines, who led after one, but were behind 6-2 after four. SBVC got three back in the fifth, and then tied it at seven in the sixth. But VVC scored twice in the seventh before the Wolverines again tied the game with two in the eighth.

Ian Burns led off the ninth with a walk from VVC's Aaron Oliveras, but was thrown out trying to steal second, and Brandon Alvarez flew out to center. VVC coach Nate Lambdin went to his bullpen, calling in Giovani Guerrero to face Marquez, who lined a single to center. Cy Robertson followed by working a walk, setting up Castro's heroics.

Castro ended the game 3-for-5 with two runs scored and the one RBI. Jason Del Villar had another strong day at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a double, triple, and three RBI, while Andrew Griffin was 2-for-5 with a triple of his own and two runs batted in. Cy Robertson did his job from the leadoff position as well, going 2-for-3 with four runs scored.

Thaddeus Layne picked up the win, pitching the final 5 1/3 innings in relief of Noe Delgado. Layne ended up allowing seven hits, while striking out five - including striking out the side in the eighth.

SBVC opened the game with its annual Autism Acceptance Month ceremony featuring SBVC Hall of Famer Michael Sola, and his adult autistic son Emilio throwing out the ceremonial first pitch. SBVC players wore light blue socks to raise awareness to the cause.
