SBVC Women’s Cross Country finishes 4th at Cougar Challenge

SBVC ran in their fifth event of the 2015 season at the Cougar Challenge at California State University, San Marcos finishing fourth, scoring 84 points with sophomore Fernanda Rodriguez  (Jurupa Valley Rubidoux) leading the way finishing the 5000 meter course in 8th place with a time of 19:38.

SBVC finished 67 points behind winner, CSUSM, with San Diego Mesa finishing second with 54 points and Sōka University of America finished third with 77 points. Cal State San Marcos is coached by legendary American distance runner Steve Scott who was once the American record holder in the mile run.

Finishing 15th was sophomore Citlaly Garcia (San Bernardino Cajon) with a time of 20:36 and sophomore Jessica Hernandez (Rialto W.A. Carter) finished 18h with a time of 21:01. Sophomore Jennifer Granados (Jurupa Valley Patriot) finished 21st with a time of 21:50 and freshman Cynthia Boyzo (Jurupa Valley H.S.) wrapped up the top five for SBVC with a time of 22:13, finishing 22nd.

Freshman Andrea Carbajal (Rialto W.A. Carter) finished 23rd for SBVC on the afternoon.
