Sandoval's Hat Trick Leads Wolverines to Win

Nayeli Sandoval scored three goals over the course of four minutes of game time as the San Bernardino Valley College women's soccer team secured the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference championship with a 5-0 victory over College of the Desert on Friday afternoon.

Sandoval started the scoring in the 44th minute, as she tapped home the rebound of a Stephanie Doran shot, giving SBVC a 1-0 lead at halftime.

She continued her scoring spree as the second half started. Just 18 seconds into the half, she took a centering pass from Marcella Gallo on the right wing and beat goaltender Kaylin Eastman for her second goal. Then, two minutes later, she headed home Kayla Storm's crossing free kick to complete the hat trick.

Two minutes after that, Jacqueline Garcia shot the ball toward goal from 30 yards out, and it bounced and snuck through the legs of Eastman for the Wolverines' fourth goal of the game. Mariah Gonzalez closed the scoring, tapping home the ball in a scramble in front of the Desert goal.

The Wolverines close out the home portion of their schedule at 3 p.m. Tuesday against Miramar. The game will be Sophomore Day, as we pay tribute to our second-year players before the game.
