SBVC men's cross country brings back Southern California Championship team and individual titles

At the Irvine Regional park SBVC fought hard throughout the race to bring back the So Cal team title since it was last won in 2013. The team came from behind to place 3 runners in the top 6.The Team was led by Individual Champion  sophomore Luis Ortega (Fontana Jurupa Hills) who finished first with a time of 20:27.

SBVC moved up slowly and patiently through the race not really taking over until the second mile. With a huge last push at the end of the race they were able to secure first place scoring 62 points to win So Cal by 23 points over Glendale. 

Sophomore Luis Ortega (Fontana Jurupa Hills) won the race by 6 seconds over Sean McDermott of Cuesta College. It was a close battle for top 6 as the top 6 in the race were only seperated by 17 seconds. Sophomore Michael Teran (Fontana Jurupa Hills) placed 4th in 20:40 running a strong last half and David Hughes took 6th overall with a time of 20:44. Closing out the team's top five were two fine perfomances from Sophmore  Erubey Camacho (Colton H.S.) who placed 20th with a time of 21:08 and sophomore Christian Sharp (Redlands East Valley) who placed 31st with a time of 21:22. SBVC last two runners Sophomore Josue Lopez (Jurupa Valley Rubidoux) placed 64th with a time of 21:58 and freshman John Hernandez (Moreno Valley Canyon Springs)  placed 98th with a time of 22:32.

The men's cross country team's next race will be on November 19th in Fresno Califonia where they will compete for a State Championship title.
