SBVC began the 2015 season the way that it begins most season, winning Cross Country meets, and today was no different as the team traveled Sylvan Park in Redlands for the University of Redlands Invitational and won in dominating fashion with 21 points, outpacing the host Bulldogs by 22 points.

SBVC knocked off Redlands, who scored 43 points and CalTech, which scored 73 points, with the top finishers at the meet being from SBVC and finishing first and second. Interestingly enough, SBVC assistant coach Matthew Sartori finished first overall with a time of 18:27 on the 6K course, but the first two scoring were from SBVC.

Clearing this finish line first for SBVC was freshman Michael Teran (Fontana H.S.) with a time of 18:33, closing in 16 seconds behind was freshman Luis Ortega (Fontana Jurupa Hills) who grabbed a time of 18:49 to finish second.

The only sophomore in the top five was Derek Barnett (Redlands East Valley) who finished fifth with a time of 19:34 and with a sixth place finish was freshman Juan Velazquez (Ontario Colony) with a time of 19:36. Wrapping up the top five for SBVC was freshman David Hughes (Redlands East Valley) who collected a time of 19:37.

Freshman Antonio Sanchez (Jurupa Valley Rubidoux) and freshman Christian Sharp (Redlands East Valley) finished eighth and 12th on the afternoon for SBVC.
