Cross Country prepares for CCCAA Finals this Saturday

The SBVC Men's and Women's Cross Country Teams will head to Woodward Park for the CCCAA State Championship this Saturday, November 22. The women's 5k gets underway at 11 am with the men's 4 mile starting at noon.

The SBVC Men's Cross Country team was holding onto one of the most dominant streaks in SoCal having won the SoCal Championship the past eight straight times, but even with a third place finish, they look strong going into the CCCAA State Finals, the top individual finisher for SBVC placed 12th in the four mile event, sophomore Anamacio Cardenas (Bloomington H.S.) with a time of 20:37.73.

The Men's team collected a score of 135 points at this event, finishing 42 points ahead of Cuesta College and 45 points behind the winner, College of the Canyons. The event was held at Woodley Park in Van Nuys.

The SBVC Women's Cross Country team grabbed their second straight CCCAA state finals appearance with an eighth place finish at the SoCal Championships, the top individual finisher for SBVC placed 18th on the 5000 meter course, freshman Pandora Mondragon (Fontana Jurupa Hills) with a time of 19:06.38.

SBVC grabbed 289 points at this event, finishing three points ahead of Bakersfield College and 228 points behind winner Glendale at the SoCal Championships.

Last season, SBVC's Men's Cross Country team finished in 3rd place at the CCCAA state finals while the Women's team finished 12th.
