SBVC Cross Country: Doyle, Cardenas, Dileva and Mondragon give verbal commits

SBVC Women's Cross Country runner freshman Pandora Mondragon (Fontana Jurupa Hills) and Men's Cross Country runners sophomore Justin Doyle (San Bernardino Cajon), sophomore Anamacio Cardenas (Bloomington H.S.) and freshman Jon Dileva (Rancho Cucamonga H.S.) have all given verbal commits to Cal Poly Pomona.

Mondragon placed 21st on the 5000 meter course at the 2014 Women's Cross Country CCCAA State Finals with a time of 19:04.7.

Doyle placed 26th in the four mile event at the 2014 Men's Cross Country CCCAA State Finals, with a time of 20:53.7. Finishing 47th was sophomore Anamacio Cardenas (Bloomington H.S.) with a time of 21:19.7.

Dileva last ran with SBVC in 2013 and placed 15th at the CCCAA State Finals with a time of 20:48.18.

Second year coach Jim Ratigan guided his SBVC Men's Cross Country team to their 19th consecutive Foothill Conference Championship, then took a 3rd Place finish at the SoCal Finals with a 5th Place finish at the CCCAA State Championships. As a reward for their 24th Conference Championship, the team was bestowed with the Conference Coach of the Year award and Conference MVP along with eight All-Conference honors.

Longtime SBVC Women's Cross Country coach Ken Blumenthal led the team to their second straight Foothill Conference Championships, then the team grabbed their second straight CCCAA state finals appearance with an eighth place finish at the SoCal Championships. As a reward for their sixth Conference Championship, the team was bestowed with the Conference Coach of the Year award and Conference MVP along with six All-Conference honors.

The Cal Poly Pomona women's cross country finished 10th at the 2014 NCAA Division II West Region Championships in Billings, Montana on November 22nd. The Cal Poly Pomona men's cross country team finished 16th at the 2014 NCAA Division II National Championships in Louisville, Kentucky on December 6th. Both programs are led by head coach Octavious Gillespie-Bennett and his assistant, former SBVC Men's Cross Country head coach, Wes Ashford.
