Wolverines Sink Vikings with Seven-Goal Outburst

After a lackluster outing against Citrus last week, San Bernardino Valley College men's soccer coach Josh Brown was expecting to see more from his offense.

Tuesday afternoon, he got more. And more and more.

The Wolverines scored seven times - after falling behind 1-0 in the ninth minute - as they beat Long Beach City College 7-1 on a windy afternoon.

The Vikings struck first, as Dean Robertson headed home a free kick cross from Alexander Moreno. But it was all SBVC from there.

In the 14th minute, the Wolverines drew even as Cristian Uruttia slammed home a loose ball in the penalty area. Then less than two minutes later, Uruttia scored again, volleying home a cross from the end line by Ronnie Romero to give the Woverines the lead they would not use.

Uruttia set up the Wolverines' next goal, as he sent a long ball up the middle to a streaking Cesar Becerra, who finished to make it 3-1 just two-and-a-half minutes later. It completed a three-goal run that occurred in less than four minutes. Carlos Gonzalez finished the first half scoring, sneaking a shot inside the far post.

It didn't take SBVC long to open the scoring in the second 45 minutes. Jason Hernandez served a long ball up the middle, between the Vikings' defense. Kevin Sutton brought the ball down and finished just 19 seconds into the half. Jose Solis and Lescter Corona finished off the scoring for SBVC.

Arturo Magana made four saves for the victory for SBVC.
