Wolverines Rally Past Desert in Battle at Top

In less than a minute Friday, the San Bernardino Valley College men's soccer team was playing from behind.

Nathan Ocampo scored on a scramble in front of the SBVC goal and poked the ball past Christopher Gomez to give College of the Desert a 1-0 lead in a battle between the top two teams in the Pacific Coast Athtletic Conference standings.

But the Wolverines rallied in the second half, scoring twice in the second 45 to beat the Roadrunners 2-1 and take control of the standings with two games left on the schedule.

Alexis Torres drew the Wolverines even in the 56th minute, as he blasted a shot from short range off a centering pass from Ramon Nunez. Then, in the 80th minute, Cesar Becerra took a pass from Hugo Herrera and shot it past Uriel Lopez to give the Wolverines the lead and win.

Gomez kept the Wolverines in the game in the first half, as he made four of his six saves in the first half.
