Wolverines, Knights Settle for Hard Fought Tie

The San Bernardino Valley College men's soccer team walked off the field Friday lamenting missed chances as they settled for a 1-1 tie with San Diego City College in a Pacific Coast Athletic Conference game.

SBVC took the lead in the 39th minute as Alfredo Moreira slammed a shot home past goaltender Jacob Odenkirk. But it was not the first shot of the game to hit the back of the net for the Wolverines. They had an apparent goal waved off in the 31st minute due to contact with the Odenkirk during a free kick.

The frustration for the Wolverines mounted after Dalton Kenney drew the Knights even in the 56th minute, as he buried a centering pass from Kale McGillis to tie the score.

Both teams continued to look for chances, with the Wolverines getting the better looks as the San Diego City goal. Odenkirk ended the game with 10 saves, while SBVC goaltender Christopher Gomez only needed to stop three San Diego shots.
