Bounces Don't Go Wolverines' Way Under the Lights

The San Bernardino Valley College men's soccer team outshot Los Angeles Mission College on Monday night at SBVC Stadium. Unfortunately for the Wolverines, none of their shots found the back of the net.

Mission, however, found the goal twice on their three shots on goal as the Eagles beat the Wolverines 2-0 in a nonconference game before about 200 people at the game played under the lights.

The Eagles (3-4-2) broke through in the 24th minute as Javier Moran beat San Bernardino Valley goalkeeper Christopher Gomez to a loose ball about 35 yards out from goal. Moran settled the ball and fired it into the vacated net to give Mission the 1-0 lead.

Another bad bounce cost the Wolverines (4-5) in the 42nd minute, when Jorge Rojas fired the ball at goal from the right wing, it skipped off the artificial turf and past Gomez for the game's second goal.

The Wolverines put the pressure on in the second half, but couldn't get anything by Mission goalkeeper Esteban Chavez, who recorded nine saves.

There will be no rest for the Wolverines, as they are back in action Tuesday afternoon at 1 p.m. against Imperial Valley in a Pacific Coast Athletic Conference game.
