SBVC Men’s Soccer falls at home to the Knights, 2-0

SBVC (3-3-4) is struggling to find answers for a game they should have won as the home side surrendered two goals late and fell to the San Diego City Knights (2-5), 2-0.

SBVC had not lost in over three weeks and was putting together an impressive 2-0-4 record over that span, but with the frustrating tie against El Camino the Friday before, there are still some positive adjustments that need to be made to this largely freshman squad.

Fouls started to become a problem late as the home side did play aggressive, solid soccer for most of the first half, leading to 11 total foul calls, compared to the one foul by San Diego City. SBVC once again led in shots taken with 12, compared to the Knights 10 shots.

Freshman starting goalkeeper Alexis Primera (Colton H.S.) played all 90 minutes and made one save.

After a succession of long runs and panicked shooting, San Diego City found an opening and exploited it, scoring in the 65th minute to take the lead. They padded that lead in the 70th minute as they snuck a shot past the keeper to put the Knights up for good.
