About five minutes into the second half, it looked as if the San Bernardino Valley men's basketball team would run away with its final home game before the holiday break.

But Imperial Valley had other plans. The Arabs rallied back within five points with 2:55 to go before the Wolverines would be able to pull away in for a 85-75 victory Saturday afternoon in the final game before the holiday break.

Both teams started slowly, and had troubles finding their range from the field in the mid-afternoon start three days before Christmas. The Wolverines only made 48.4 percent of their shots from the field, while the Arabs made 41.8 percent from the field, while struggling at the free throw line as well, making 53.8 percent of their shots from the charity stripe.

Wolverines' center Roman Silva led all scorers in the game as he tossed in 21 points while pulling down eight rebounds and blocking four shots. Damani Washington added 17 points for SBVC.

Quincy Brown led the Arabs with 18 points, while Javon Nutter scored 14 points while adding 10 rebounds.

The game got a little testy at times, with seven technical fouls being called.
