A pair of big defensive plays in the second half helped spark the San Bernardino Valley College football team to rally past Mt. San Jacinto College on Oct. 26 at Mt. San Jacinto.

Down by two to start the second half, the Wolverines took advantage of a Mt. San Jacinto mistake to take the lead for the first time in the game. Forced to punt, the Eagles botched the snap, with the ball coming loose in their own end zone. SBVC's Jess Ybarra covered up the loose ball for the score, giving SBVC an 18-14 lead.

Then, up by one to start the fourth quarter with the Eagles driving, Claude Dent picked off quarterback Brett Virgil on the second play of the quarter and returned the ball 59 yards to the MSJC 31 yard line. The Wolverines needed three plays to get into the end zone, capped off by a 10-yard pass play from Jeremy Moussa to Tate Pringle, giving the Wolverines an eight-point lead.

From that point on, the SBVC defense shut the door. They only allowed the Eagles' 28 yards of offense on their last three possessions of the game. The Death Valley defense only allowed MSJC 16 first downs in the game and 318 yards of total offense. The Eagles only converted 20 percent of their third down attempts, and were 0-for-4 on fourth down attempts.

Meanwhile, the SBVC offense racked up 524 total yards - 385 of those coming from the arm of Moussa. The freshman quarterback from Roosevelt High completed 23 of 46 passes, four of those going for touchdowns. His favorite target on the day was Pringle, who caught nine balls for 133 yards and two scores. Running back Darrell Turner Jr. alsoc carried his share of the load, rushing for 103 yards on 18 carries, while also catching three passes for 46 yards and a touchdown.

The Wolverines return home Saturday to take on undefeated Citrus College at 6 p.m.
