Wolverines Complete Sweep of Imperial Valley

Jaden Burns launched a double off the netting in left field, scoring Derek Bogh and Patrick Perez to break a 3-3 tie in the seventh inning, giving San Bernardino Valley a 5-3 victory over Imperial Valley College in the final game of a three-game series.

The win completed a three-game sweep of the Arabs in the Wolverines' first week of play in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference.

Burns also played in another two-run score for the Wolverines. In the fourth inning, Burns bunted in an attempt to move Perez and Matthew Glover into scoring position. But pitcher Robert Brodell threw the ball up the first-base line, allowing both runners to score on the play, giving SBVC a 2-1 lead at the time.

The Arabs took the lead in the sixth inning, but SBVC tied it in the bottom half of the inning. With runners on second and third, Gage Brandt swung at strike three that short-hopped into the glove of catcher Arturo Gamboa. Gamboa rolled the ball back the mound as Brandt ran to first safely, with Perez alertly scoring from third to tie the game.

Edgardo Gonzalez picked up the victory on the mound, going seven innings, striking out five while allowing three runs - only two earned. Cody Milner struck out two in two innings of relief for his third save of the season.

Burns was 2-for-3 with the two RBIs, while Perez was 2-for-4, scoring three times.
